Prerana Niketan

We are always proud of the fact that the Seminary was instrumental in starting a project like the Prerana Niketan. The co-ordination of Fr. Bijesh Philip and the able leadership of Fr. K. S. George have made things easier in the reporting year. The children will be given training in managing their hygiene and learning some skills like screen printing and candle making. The Seminary students like Sanjay Mathen. and Cincy Mariam Joseph do voluntary services there during their free time. We plan to build a hostel for boys next year.

At present there are 60 students in the school and we provide hostel facilities to about 40 students including transportation arrangements for those that are from nearby villages.  However, we are unable to accommodate more students due to the lack of space and we believe that it is mandatory to have a separate hostel building for the boys as they increase in age and number.  Moreover, this is the only special school in Kalmeshwar and all the students are from poor socio-economic background.  Therefore, this school and its continued effort is a great blessing for them.  A well trained team of highly dedicated teachers give vocational training to these students and the functioning of the school is sustained by the generous contributions of the people all around.
