CATHOLICOS OF THE EAST APPOINTED NEWLY ELECTED BISHOPS TO NEW DIOCESES

By the grace of God, the Metropolitans who were consecrated on 12th May 2010 at Mar Elia Cathedral, Kottayam, the Cathedral Church of the Catholicos of the East have been appointed as Metropolitans in the manner specified hereunder after due consultation with the Association Managing Committee convened on 03rd August 2010 and on the recommendation of the Holy Episcopal Synod met on 03rd August 2010

Orthodox Vacation Bible School (OVBS) 2010

As part of the outreach programme of the seminary, every year we conduct Orthodox Vacation Bible School (OVBS) for children born and brought up outside Kerala region. The theme for the year 2010 is “The Master Is Calling You”. The OVBS outreach programme would be conducted in the following phases:

1st Phase: 9 - 17Oct

2nd Phase: 31 Oct-7Nov

3rd Phase: 26 -31 Dec

4th Phase: Summer Vacation (April, May, June)

Interested Parishes and congregations are requested to send their applications for the same.

Feast of St. Mary and Independence Day celeberations lead by H.G. Mar Militos

H.G. Mar Milithos, the metropolitan for the diocese of Thrissur is a visiting faculty of the seminary and this year’s Feast of Assumption of St.Mary was celebrated by Thirumeni. H.G. hoisted the national flag and gave an inspiring message.

Governing Board Meeting

The Governing Board of the seminary met at STOTS from 29th to 30th July 2010. H.G Mar Coorilos , H.G. Mar Yulios, Rev. Fr. Dr. Bijesh Philip, Rev. Fr. Ninan K George, Very Rev.M.S Skariah Ramban (Delhi), Very Rev. Geevarghese Ramban(Calcutta), Rev.Fr. T.E. Issac, Shri M.G George Muthoot, Shri. Kochukunju(Mumbai), and Shri. V.C Philip(Jabalpur) Rev. Fr. Dr. Reji Mathew and Rev. Fr. Philip Kuruvilla attended the meeting.

New Academic Session 2010

Seminary re-opened after the summer vacations on July 3rd 2010.Students were welcomed by the new principal Rev. Fr.Dr. Bijesh Philip. Students were welcomed with lit candles handed over by the Principal as part of the Re-opening ceremony.

Our New Bursar

Rev.Fr. Philipose Venattu has been appointed as the new Bursar of the Seminary. The Governing Body that met on July 29-30, 2010 decided to appoint Rev.Fr.Philipose as the new Bursar. He has been serving the seminary as the faculty member for the past 8yrs. He specializes in "History of Christianity".

Satsangh News

H.G Geevarghese Mar Coorilos led a Satsangh meeting organized on the 29th of July. H.G delivered a talk on “Experiences in the Field of Ecumenism and prospects”. Students had an open interactive session with H.G, raising questions and expressing concerns for wider ecumenism and Orthodox involvement.

Working together for a better yield

The whole seminary family joined hands together in clearing the weeds in the Tapioca farm of the seminary. Presence of the faculty, especially the involvement of H.G.Yulios in this job was encouraging.

Farewell and Felicitation

A farewell to Rev. Fr.Dr. Reji Mathew (former principal) and felicitation to H.G. Dr. Geevargheese Mar Yulios (newly ordained bishop and former Bursar of Seminary) was organized on the 30th of July 2010. H.G Geevaghese Mar Coorilos (Metropolitan, Mumbai Diocese) presided over the meeting.
